ELDORADO WRITING

Copywriters are to be distinguished from “copyrighters.” They do not register materials with
the government. Copyright Attorneys do that. Rather Copywriters generally write what their
clients want but do not have the time or ability to write. This can include advertising
materials, campaign literature, brochures, pamphlets, or anything that involves writing
succinct and well-worded text.

The Process
Clients give the copywriters the types of information they want included in the text. The
Copywriter then:

  • arranges those items in chronological, logical, or sequential order;
  • chooses vocabulary appropriate for the client’s audience,
  • forms ideas in clear, properly structured sentences, and
  • provides anything else that will assist in delivering the client’s precise intentions.

Occasional Pieces
ELDORADO WRITING will also create occasional pieces including the following.  Click here
to see samples.

  • Stories. They can be in the client’s name as author, unless they are to be published
in which case I reserve the right to have my own name as author but will
acknowledge the occasion and person for whom it was written.

  • Poetry.  I don’t do poetry unless the client desires doggerel verse where lines rhyme
but the lines have relatively the same metric pattern. Such verse is generally
humorous and often satiric. Ogden Nash comes to mind. The client dictates the
content, audience and occasion; then I write an appropriate verse.

  • Songs. I can also reword familiar songs while retaining the tune, syllables, and
emphasis. This would have to be for songs that have gone out of copyright, however.

  • Toasts and tributes. Copywriters often write toasts for special occasions (humorous
or honorific), wedding receptions, birthdays, anniversaries or funerals.

In essence, Copywriters write what the client wants written, but the client must be specific
about the information to be included.

Rates
  • Project Rate: Negotiated based on the complexity and length of the project. Agreed
upon with the client for the entire Project regardless of the hours involved.
  • Projects for Not-for-Profit Organizations:  Negotiable.

Terms: Fifty percent (50%) of the agreed-upon price is due upon initiation of the project, and
the remaining amount is to be paid at the time the client gives final approval to the work.
